OffsH2ore Island Grid for Hydrogen Production - Electrical Simulation on How to Reach Grid Stability

Abstract
Green hydrogen may play an important role in the energy transition. Due to the limited space in Germany, a possibility is the direct production of hydrogen at sea by offshore wind farms. This paper presents fundamental electrical studies for the feasibility of hydrogen production on a platform in the middle of the sea. Different failure scenarios and their influences on the island grid stability as well as the influence of a reactive power compensation system on the stability and on the hydrogen production are presented.
