Development perspectives for lithium-ion battery cell formats

Abstract
The Fraunhofer Institutes ICT, IPA, ISI and the Fraunhofer facility FFB have presented a study on the development of lithium-ion battery cell formats. In it, the most important trends on battery chemistry, cell formats, cell production and safety are considered and compared with the requirements of various battery applications. Special attention is paid to announcements by car manufacturers, e.g. on large-format cells. The new publication is an update of the Fraunhofer study „Development prospects for cell formats of lithium-ion batteries in electromobility“ published in 2017.
