Title
M2M-SCM: A Spatial Channel Model for Mobile-to-Mobile Communications in the VHF and UHF Band
Abstract
Vehicular networks and Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANET) are fundamental emerging technologies, leaving the scope of purely academic research. This raises the need for realistic channel models to evaluate new systems and standards under development. In this paper, we present a spatial channel model for mobile-to-mobile communications in the VHF and UHF band. Here, scatterers are randomly distributed on ellipses in such a way that the statistical properties of the propagation environment are matching those determined by extensive real-world channel measurements. Gradual fading of the multipath components avoids unwanted artifacts caused by the updating of the scatterers and a dynamic K-factor incorporates the influence of the distance between transmitter and receiver on the power delay profile of the channel. Through this, the novel model tackles shortcomings of previous models and provides a more realistic representation of the mobile-to-mobile channel.
