Converter Overvoltage Protection for DC-Grids

Overvoltage protection for commercial and household installations with AC is well known and the market provides a multitude of suitable devices. However, in DC-grids, different structures, sources and loads are present, so new solutions are necessary. This paper aims to provide guidelines for overvoltage protection of converters in typical modern DC-grids and give insight into the elements that influence circuit behavior in such installations.
