Title

Quantification of Influence of 5G Technology Implementation on Process Performance in Production

Abstract
5G technology has great potential to accelerate ongoing digital transformation in production due to its offered services. However, existing research rarely examines to what extent processes in production can be improved. This paper presents a holistic approach to quantify the influence of 5G technology on process performance in production. First, a general quantification framework is developed. Second, a 5G-specific KPI-set is derived based on causal and effect chains. Third, framework is applied to an automated guided vehicle (AGV) use case by comparing the KPI before and after implementing 5G technology. This application serves as validation of the framework and is the basis for the outlook.
