Title

The Fraunhofer CCIT Smart Intersection

Abstract
This paper describes the Fraunhofer CCIT Smart Intersection, which, at the time of writing, is currently deployed at a public intersection in Dresden, Germany. Goal of the deployment is to detect Vulnerable Road User (VRU), like pedestrians or cyclists, and to warn other traffic participants of potential hazard using Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication by employing Decentralized Environmental Notification Messages (DENMs) as well as Collective Perception Messages (CPMs). To facilitate the exchange of large amount of data, e.g., sensor data or high definition maps of the corresponding intersection ,a second communication channel based on mmWave is used.
