Title
Hybridization for series production - continuous profile production by pultrusion
Abstract
An important factor for the success of electromobility is lightweight design - the lower the mass of avehicle, the less energy is required for acceleration and movement, and the smaller, lighter andcheaper battery and drive technology can be designed. In close cooperation with partners from scienceand industry, the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) developssolutions suitable for series production for a sustainable German automotive industry. Lightweightdesign in economical hybrid design is the focus of numerous development projects. In the researchproject "Hybrid Pultrusion", the research partners Fraunhofer IWU and the Leibniz-Institut fürPolymerforschung Dresden e.V. (IPF) develop new methods for the reliable and reproducible productionof hybrid components made of metal and fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) by using the pultrusionprocess. A central focus in this project is the bonding mechanism between metal and FRP at themolecular level and the transfer of these phenomena to the pultrusion process.
