Title

Modelling and analysing future energy systems with high shares of variable renewables

Title Supplement
A South African case study
Abstract
This paper presents methods for the modelling and analysing of future large-scale energy systems with high shares of renewable energies. The methods and the necessary data base are first described in general terms and then applied as a specific example to South Africa. In the best case, the methods described in this paper can serve as a blueprint for the analysis of future renewable energy systems of other countries and as a basis for model improvements.
