MoniShirt - large area printed piezoelectric sensors for body motion tracking

Abstract
Strategies and first results regarding screen printing of conducting traces and piezoelectric bending sensor systems on textiles are presented. Basic functionality of these sensor systems is demonstrated based on a screen printed prototype designed to measure movements of the elbow and wrist. Multiple bending sensor signals are measured, processed and 3D visualized in real time. Furthermore a signal characterization approach for textile sensors is shown and the output signals of sensor samples screen printed on textiles are discussed.
