Title
Characterisation of different gun propellants by long-term mass loss
Abstract
178 different mass loss curves of A5020, JA-2 and NK 1074 propellant were recorded at temperatures between 30°C and 90°C up to 35 years. Kinetic models for zero order decomposition and solvent evaporation are applied to these data and the respective activation energies estimated. Low temperature measurements are sensitive to ambient condition even if located in the basement of buildings with reduced impact by personnel and environment. Low signal-to-noise ratios are also critical for high precision mass loss measurements and are addressed in this work.
