Title
Thermogravimetric study on the reaction of magnesium and aluminum in nitrogen
Abstract
The objective of the current research is the characterization of the oxidation behavior of magnesium powder in different atmospheres, to offer a better understanding of the kinetics of the combustion reaction of magnesium as an alternative to aluminum. In the present case non-isothermal thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to investigate the nitridation behavior of magnesium and aluminum powder in the temperature range between 400 °C and 800 °C or 1400 °C.
