Internet-delivered television using MPEG-DASH. Opportunities and challenges
MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH) is the upcoming streaming standard for the Web and will harmonize video delivery across the Internet by enabling consumption and transport of adaptive bitrate content. This paper gives an overview on opportunities for Internet-delivered video that are enabled using MPEG-DASH and challenges that come with it. Topics that are addressed include personalized commercial breaks, session mobility-enabled adaptive video streaming and premium video models using MPEG-DASH.
