Assessment of future EV charging infrastructure

EVs are seen as a key technology to power cars energy-efficiently with low emissions based on sustainable energy sources. However, electrification of road-based transport also imposes major challenges. For utilities, one challenge is how to supply the electricity. This paper provide insights into charging infrastructure regarding economics, technology as well as usage pattern. Our findings reveal that home charging at a regular power outlet is most economic and suits most driving pattern today.
