Abstract
To a great degree, successful machine and plant engineering and its use worldwide will depend on problem solutions which interlink logistical processes in planning, development, startup, operation, maintenance and service. Visual-interactive simulation has evolved into a significant tool for technical product, production and process planning. Products and machines can be tested, simulated or put into operation even before they are constructed. As a result, users are in a position to directly inspect and evaluate solution concepts without investing immense amounts for real, time consuming test structures or experiments. Practical examples of the use of virtual development and training platforms (e.g. for a harvester) are demonstrated in this article.
