Title

Characterization of bioreactors with three biological systems

Abstract
S-tendae with its viscoelastic flow behaviour, sensitive against shear stress and with high oxygen demand during growth phase shows highest productivity of nikkomycins in the STR. The JLR could probably reach similar results with higher P/V than investigated if the critical velocity in the liquid nozzle is not exceeded. The PLR in the investigated configuration seems not to be favourable. In continuous FBR productivity is about half of that in STR, up to now. C. glutamicum with low viscosity, tendency to foam, not too high oxygen demand shows the highest productivity of glutamic acid in the PLR. Reduced productivities in the STR seem to depend on problems with foam. JLR still has to be investigated. In continuous FBR prodctivity still is lower than that in STR.
