Abstract
The method concerns production of mirrors used for forming, deflection and/or focussing of laser beams. A component made of a ceramic powder containing nonoxidic silicon, with the form and dimensions of the laser mirror, is subjected to a heat treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere at temperatures above 800 deg. C. Alternatively a component of specified form and dimensions is produced of a ceramic powder, and is infiltrated with a metal or silicon. ADVANTAGE - Laser mirrors produced by the method have a relatively small mass, a high thermal conductivity, a low coefficient of thermal expansion, a high stiffness and an adequate strength.
