CLIENT China - Definitionsprojekt: Taicang Integrated Water and Resource Management (T-IWARM)
Title Supplement
Schlussbericht zum FK 01RD1010A
Abstract
Objective of the project was to prepare an R&D project for the development and implementation of an integrated, sustainable water and resources management concept in the Taicang Economic Development Area (TCEDA). Such a concept includes technological, organizational and economic sub-sectors both at the level of the entire industrial park, as well as at company level. The concept should be developed for the planned expansion of the industrial park. Technical measures should be implemented within the framework of the project at selected locations as demonstrators. During the project definition phase a promising project consortium was put together and the necessary preparations were made. The project was managed and coordinated by Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI, supported by the Fraunhofer Representative Office Beijing. Fraunhofer Institutes of the Fraunhofer Water Systems Alliance SysWasser with great expertise in technological solutions for water, energy and infrastructure contributed with preliminary considerations regarding technical measures at selected sites. Together with the city government of Taicang, especially the Administration Committee of the TCEDA, a first conceptual framework and possible objectives were identified and specified. From the information assets of the Administration Committee important data were obtained, which were needed as a basis for the further conceptual design. Due to their knowledge of critical region-specific details (technology, innovation and eco-political, and administrative boundary conditions), the two scientific institutes of the Chinese Academy of Science CAS (IPM and IAE) provided significant contributions to the planned, successful implementation of the concept to be developed. Econet China acted as a central interface between the research institutes, the German and Chinese companies and local decision-makers and would act as disseminator of the concept results.
