A survey on the available optical tracking systems for AR/VR indoor applications

This work comprises a state-of-the-art survey on indoor optical tracking systems for augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) applications. The most representative commercially available systems and their main features are presented and compared. In the conclusion the typical profile and the properties of existing commercially available optical tracking systems are shown. It is verified that one significant obstacle to the proliferation and popularization of such systems is their high cost, when it comes to high precision or large area tracking.
