Reducing barriers to energy efficiency in private and public organisations. Final Report

This report is part of a study that identifies barriers to energy efficieny and gives appropiate measures to reduce them. Energy service companies (ESCOS) are an important for possible solutions. This part of the study characterizes the German energy sector, contains a description and of four case studies in the energy service sector. It identifies the main barriers and chances for ESCOS to realize projects in the higher education, brewery and machanical engineering sectors, and concludes with brief recommendations on how these barriers may be overcome. Two main issues are information for the potential customers and an appropaite organisation of the ESCO corresponding to the requirements of a liberalized energy market.
