You're working in a software factory

This article gives an introduction to the idea of the Software Factory, particularly as seen by the Eureka Software Factory project, a long-running project with several prestigious European partners. The subject is not treated in detail, and it has been necessary to simplify many concepts and also the history of the ESF project. The idea is simply to give a person familiar with the problems of present-day software development some idea of the ESF vision and of the relevance of the Software Factory idea to the working lives of Information Technology practitioners.
