Energy related value stream method in mechanical manufacturing

This thesis focuses on the analysis of potentials in production and the derivation of measures to increase energy productivity. This developed method, known as the Energy related Value Stream Method, is based on the classical lean method called Value Stream Mapping. The method is composed of two parts. The first part is the Energy related Value Stream Analysis, which aims to analyze the current situation and to provide transparency through a representation of the production chain. The second part is the Energy related Value Stream Design. By this second part, measures to increase energy productivity are derived and classified. Finally, the method is applied to a particular area of production in order to validate it.
