Titel
Torque monitoring systems for detection and evaluation of interactions between grid and generator
Abstract
Due to the increasing number of electronic powerconverters connected to the electrical transmission grid basedon the increasing number of renewable power systems it isnecessary to take care of the interaction between the grid andthe conventional power plants. Beside the well-knownmalfunctions which can occur to the conventional powerplants especially to the turbo sets connected by the electricalgenerator to the grid, the danger of damages caused by theexcitation of torsional vibrations is still increasing. Typicaldamages are cracks in shaft trains at the surface or cracks inthe area of the couplings. Today the necessity of themonitoring of torsional vibrations still exists. Thepresentation will show a modern approach of monitoring andevaluating torsional vibrations of shaft tr ains of turbo sets. The boundary conditions and possibilities of differentsoftware tools will be shown in combination with the use ofa magnetostrictive sensor, which is used for the torquemeasurement and the measurement of phase voltage undcurrent.
