Title

The Use of Batteries in Storing Electricity

Abstract
In this chapter, the development of lithium-ion battery systems is described, exemplarily for photovoltaic home storage applications. The role of battery management and advanced operating control strategies is highlighted, as well as system topologies and energy management. Within the second part of this chapter, key factors addressing bankability and insurability such as safety, reliability, and performance are described. Finally, test results in terms of efficiencies and effectiveness of market-available home storage products are shown.
