Holistic analysis and defined objectives promise success when optimizing processes in industry value chains to boost energy and resource efficiency. The physical optimum can serve as a target parameter for the improvement of processes. Methods of digital engineering, e.g. virtual models for process simulation, are an effective starting point for the analysis and selection of optimization actions.
