Organbuilders and research

Investing in research is foreign to most organbuilders. The pipe organ is a traditional instrument, for which it is natural to think that everything has already been invented. An experimental session was called in April 2009 at the Fraunhofer Institute in Stuttgart. The participants spent two solid days investigating a number of metal pipes specially built for the experiment. During this intensive session, two sets of pipes, one of Principal scale and one of Open Flute scale, were analyzed.
