A distributed-application support environment to allow object-oriented description and programming of distributed applications; 3. Extensive use of multicast or group communication protocols to facilitate replicated processing; and 4. Built-in error processing and fault-treatment procedures to provide user-transparent fault tolerance by a powerful management system.
