Neue Keramische Werkstoffe
Abstract
The book presents a review of the present state of the art in advanced technical ceramics science and technology. The first chapter describes modern technological approaches to produce tailored ceramic microstructures and products. The following parts give an extended survey about the physical background of the development of ceramics for electric/electronic, magnetic, optical, and mechanical applications (conductivity, piezo-electric / electro-strictive / electro-optic / ferroelectrive behaviour, fracture mechanics). This discussion is associated with the presentation of microstructural and property data of the technically most important groups of single phase and composite ceramics as ionic conductors, di- and ferroelectric ceramics, superconducting ceramics, ferrimagnetic oxides, oxides / carbides / borides / nitrides for mechanical applications. A special chapter gives a review of electronmicroscopical methods and fundamental results.
