A development tool for help systems based on the hypertext concept

The computer aided design of a vey large scale integrated circuits uses a collection of sophisticated tools. Their complexity grows both with the steadily increasing requirements of the users and the high efficiency of the supporting workstations. For such a complex work the users need efficient support in form of a textual and graphical information service. Help systems is the name given to the service of this kind. Since the design tools have a high complexity it becomes appearent that the necessary information service, i.e. the help system offered to the designer, also exhibits a high complexity. The implementation of complex help systems cannot be done without a development tool.
