Title
Daylighting - the use of daylight in rooms
Abstract
Daylight illumination of rooms is gaining importance. The possible energy savings are particularly interesting from a commercial standpoint. Of equal importance, however, is the higher level of comfort for the occupants of the building. Careful planning of the use of daylight is essential in order to obtain optimum user comfort and total energy requirements. This is achieved by the use of modern simulation programs. Planning is a further aid to illustrating the rooms in a realistic form before building commences. This is the only way that planners, architects and developers can verify the effectiveness of their proposals. The Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme (ISE) is equipped with the software, hardware and know-how to achieve these objectives.
