Mechanical testing of unidirectional CFRP under high dynamic loading

A new method for tensile impact testing of UD-composites is presented in this paper. It allows the dynamic testing of unidirectional composites up to strain rates of about 400 l/s. Much emphasis was given on avoiding critical stresses as well as the registration of vibrationfree signals. The dynamic load was applied in the same manner as a static test, thus allowing a more comprehensive inerpretation of the data.
