European wind turbine database

The European wind turbine data base EUROWIN contents technical data of about 600 different turbine types and about 1300 operating wind turbines in the European Community. On the basis of the information on operating turbines such as energy production, failures etc. and technical details from the manufacturers, the database is able to provide output such as: identification of wind turbine manufacturers for selected power classes, selection of turbines according to their control principle (pitch or stall controlled), generator types, calculation of annual energy output at a given mean site windspeed for all turbines in the database, specific energy output comparison for different turbine categories, energy output per unit of investment, statistical evaluation of energy output, failure statistics. The databank output can be used for many purposes: for the manufacturer to compare his technology with the state of the art, for the potential operator to identify optimal concepts for his speci fic requirements and for official bodies to identify the need for further R and D. Some graphics made from evaluations of the years 1986, 1987 like spec. energy, energy per investment, spec. costs, spec. weights, etc. are presented.
