Title

Printed batteries designed to power OLED applications

Abstract
Mobile applications of printed electronics require usually a power supply that is capable to electrically support the application with the demanded amount of energy during its lifetime. Dependent on the driven device, this energy need to be supplied by a current flow at a defined voltage level. Both parameters can be easily realized by a stationary power supply while a mobile and integrated energy device is much more sophisticated to be realized. In case of a printed primary battery system based on the zinc manganese material system the mobility of the application is much better. All energy is stored in the battery as soon as its manufacturing is finished. Furthermore, there is no need for any interconnection for an external recharging device. Therefore, printed primary batteries are very convenient to enable electrical power supply to mobile applications. One application that can be powered in this way is illumination.
