Title

Functionally Integrated Rear Section in Lightweight Design for Electric Sport Cars

Abstract
Batteries in electric passenger cars are often housed in the underbody. This makes it more difficult to achieve a low seating position for the driver in sports cars. Porsche, ElringKlinger and Fraunhofer IPA have therefore generated a highly integrated and weight-reduced concept for the rear section of the car, in which the battery system is placed in front of the rear axle. The concept in the HighKO research project has no seperate battery box and uses the battery module housings for the crash load paths.
