Development of new strategies in rhinosurgery using computer simulation and visualization
The project deals with the simulation of the air flow in the human nose. To reach this goal we utilize methods of computer graphics as well as computational fluid flow in a patient's nose will support the physicians in optimizing surgical treatment. Beside this the computer simulation and visualization of the results will be helpful to answer basic questions of rhinosurgery. To relize the project the following tasks have to be carried out: -Development of a module for the visualization of the nose channel. -Development of a user interface for the specification of the visualization parameters. -Numerical simulation of the air flow. -Integration of the simulation results in the visualization of the patient's head. -Development of methods for the simulation of rhinosurgery by manipulation of the graphic representation of the patient's nose channel.
