Using simulation as test tool in semiconductor industries

Simulation is an important tool during equipment (tool) development with different applications. It can be used as pre-development tool to get first estimations and improve the development process. Besides it can be used as test tool to avoid problems with time constraints for hardware and software testing. Additionally simulation can become a marketing tool for acqusition when it offers sufficient flexibility and configurability to urgently meer new customers' requirements.

Simulation stellt ein mächtiges Werkzeug bei der Entwicklung neuer Anlagen dar. Sie kann zum einen eingesetzt werden, um bereits im Vorfeld wichtige Abschätzungen machen zu können und die Entwicklungsarbeit in vielen Bereichen zu erleichtern. Zum anderen kann sie auch verwendet werden, um die oft vorhandenen zeitlichen Spannungen bei den Tests von Hardware und Software zu mildern. Zusätzlich können Gerätesimulationen für die Akquisition sinnvoll eingesetzt werden, wenn sie die richtige Flexibilität und Konfigurierbarkeit ermöglichen.
