Computer Aided Design of computer systems - program structure and dialogue system
Abstract
The large variety of design options offered by modern, fault tolerant, distributed multi-microcomputer systems with modular components necessitates computer aided design for performance forecasting, design optimization and fulfillment of application requirements. This paper presents a description and dialogue system for computer aided design which is especially adapted to the user. It is based solely on a graphical, block orientated, hierarchical structure description of the system models. Parameterization is done in dialogue, ensuring that model and model documentation are consistent at every design phase. The system, coupled with existing design program packages, is suitable for the analysis of a multi-microcomputer system with respect to performance, reliability and diagnosability using a common system model. An extension is planned for safety applications. (IITB)
