Title
Simulation of organic light emitting diodes for lighting applications
Abstract
There is done a great effort to develop large area OLED devices on large substrates to realize the light sources of the 21st century. The design of different low loss current distribution substrate layouts and segmentations for improved robustness and homogeneity is a crucial module and can be supported excellent by simulation. A three-dimensional ANSYS model is used to compute the distribution of luminance of a lighting tile. The non-linearity of the LED current-voltage-characteristic of the organic layer is considered completely as well as effects of the lateral resistance network of supply lines. The results of simulation for an manufactured device are compared to experiment. Opportunities to improve the homogeneity of the area distribution of luminance are pointed out by different simulated examples.
