Identification of potential new mobile phases for interactive liquid chromatography of polyolefins
Abstract
Cloud point temperature measurements for linear polyethylene and isotactic polypropylene in 63 different solvents were used to identify solvents for polyolefins and determine the relative thermodynamic quality of these solvents. A comparison with other indicators of the solvents' thermodynamic quality shows that the approach is generally valid and offers a fast and easily applicable tool for characterizing solvents according to their thermodynamic quality. The results offer a multitude of new possibilities for the development of systems for chromatographic characterizations of polyolefins.
