Title
Implementation and characterisation of the dynamic behaviour of a three-dimensional truss structure for evaluating smart devices
Abstract
Light-weight structures, especially larger ones often suffer from vibration related problems like a reduction of lifetime and precision or emission of unwanted noise and oscillations. Adaptronic systems offer possible solutions for those challenges. Due to their complexity and high grade of function integration the development of these systems is still very extensive and expensive. In this work we report on a truss structure which represents 3D light-weight structures like space frames and frameworks. This truss structure which was designed to serve as a development environment for further research on the topics of manufacturing techniques, control strategies and active components for noise and vibration control. After the introduction of this structure one applications which is currently in development, structure integrated strain sensors are illustrated and first results presented.
