Computers for physical protection - a tribute to programmed solutions
Title Supplement
Paper presented at 4th International Conference on Protective Structures, ICPS 2016, 18-21 October 2016, Beijing, China
Other Title
Computers for physical protection - a tribute to programmed solutions in explosion protection
Abstract
The contribution highlights the decisive role of computerized methods in infrastructure protection by three examples where they can ideally complement and extend the range of sophisticated experiments and detailed analytical approaches. They help create deeper and easier understanding of complex infrastructure protection problems. The first examples describes a minimization method to derive resistance curves directly from dynamic experiments, the second uses vulnerability modelling of hundreds of scenarios for safer urban environments and the third highlight hydrocode predictions, where testing would be impractical to impossible, especially to private businesses.
