Title

CAN core for integrated microsystems

Abstract
A technology independent module of a CAN-bus controller has been developed, which allows a reconfigurable on-chip implementation of a complete microsystem consisting of sensors, actuators and signal processing circuitry. A prototype of the CAN-bus controller has been implemented in 1.5 micron CMOS technology for proving the secure operation of the controller under noisy real world conditions. The programmable data rate ranges up to 1 Mbit/s. The interface specifications are determined already at HDL level. The CAN-bus core follows the basic CAN principle and meets all requirements of CAN-specification 2.0. The CAN-bus core is part of a library, which moreover contains the core of a microcontroller (IMS2205 - 100% compatible with Motorola M68HC05) and a commercial CAN driver.
