Farbmetrische Bestimmung von Entzuendungen des Zahnfleisches

For the judgement of the degree of inflammation of the gingiva propria an objective measurement procedure is needed which is simple enough in order to be applied for routine measurements in the dental practice. By means of an experimental set-up color measurements of the gingiva were carried out and compared with the diagnoses of a dentist. In the case of inflamed gingiva the amount of the displacement of the chromaticity coordinates describes the severity and the direction is characteristic for the kind of inflammation. The framework of a color measurement device for the gingiva was developed, of which the sensor, data processing and information output were especially adapted to the needs of the dental practice. A prototype of the color measurement device was set up. (IITB)
