Abstract
The modified phosphoric acid anodizing (MPAA) of AA1050 shows promising features of oxide properties and it can be assumed that the corrosion protection performance of such anodization layers is improved by the pore impregnation with nanoparticles. Furthermore, the remaining open porosity should enhance the adhesive bonding comparable with conventional PAA pre-treated material. The preserved open porosity is the prerequisite of the subsequent impregnation process. Long-term corrosion tests and tests of the adhesive bonding strength are planned to be carried out soon. First experiments with other aluminum alloys (AA20204, AlMg1, AlMgSi0.5) indicate that they are also accessible to impregnation with nanoparticles.
