Title

11th Hypervelocity Impact Symposium 2010. Proceedings

Title Supplement
Freiburg, Germany, April 11-15, 2010
Abstract
The Hypervelocity Impact Symposium (HVIS) is a biennial event that serves as the principal forum for the discussion, interchange, and presentation of the basic physics of high- and hypervelocity impact and related scientific and technical areas. Hypervelocity impact is defined as the impact regime in which shock effects are important. The 11th HVIS was held from April 11 to 15, 2010, in Freiburg, Germany. Topics comprised: 1. Hypervelocity Phenomenology Studies 2. High-Velocity Launchers and Diagnostics 3. Spacecraft Meteoroid/Debris Shielding and Failure Analyses 4. Material Response (including EOS) 5. Fracture and Fragmentation 6. High-Velocity Penetration Mechanics and Target Response 7. Armor/Anti-Armor and Ballistic Technology 8. Analytical and Numerical Methodologies 9. Asteroid and Meteoroid Impacts, Planetary Defense Technology The 11th HVIS attracted 150 scientists, engineers, and technical managers of academia, industry and government agencies from 15 countries. 55 presentations were given and 20 posters were presented. The related double-blind reviewed papers are all published in the Symposium's proceedings, which are the major archival source of papers published in this field.
