Title

Current Activities in Ultrasonic NDE Simulations - A German Perspective

Abstract
A variety of models is avaible to be selected according to the problems of interest. The various modeling techniques are more or less suitable for coupling to graphical user-interfaces or CAD-systems. Analytical models in general allow for reasonable calculation times on PC, where even further reduction of the run-times can be achieved by applying approximations where suitable. Numerical models include all wave propagation effects, however at the expense of calculation time and hardware. While these methods in principle provide a duplicate of experemental inspection results, analytical models can be employed to consider the various wave phenomena separately - which is desirable from the practical point of view.
