AI-based interoperability in dynamic systems of systems

Dynamic systems of systems are characterized by their heterogeneity, openness, data-intensity, and AI-based autonomy. In such environments, achieving interoperability is an important challenge. In this chapter, we discuss how the recent developments in artificial intelligence-more specifically large language modelscan contribute new approaches to enabling dynamic systems of systems interoperate autonomously. We discuss interoperability strategies, make architectural considerations, and comment on quality aspects of AI-based solutions in the field.
