Title
Approach to Understand Learner Needs and Usage of the Outcome for Creativity Techniques Adressing the Learner Experience in Workplaces
Abstract
In correlation with the current technological developments in Industry 4.0, the interest in human centered learning and training systems increases. Human centered learning systems allow shortened training time, satisfied employees and long-lasting learning. To address the individual needs and to design and develop adaptive learning systems, this work presents an approach on how to gain a detailed understanding of the learner needs in a long-term workplace training, hereinafter called learner needs assessment (LNA). The results of the methodical combination of contextual observation, nonstandardized interviews with the employees and task exploration provide a detailed understanding of the learning employee, the learning phases, the learning environment, social correlations, task-based challenges, positive and negative motivators and more. By clustering the results and integrating the findings into marketing originated tools such as persona and learner journey maps, the visualization offers an engaging base for cross-organizational ideation and creativity workshops.
