Title

Process model for optimized engineering change management in the realization of large-scale projects

Abstract
In the construction of individualized large structures such as ships, in-process engineering changes occur throughout the entire product development process. The reasons for this are the targeted concurrent engineering, subsequent customer requests or technical changes due to evolving framework conditions. However, existing models for the necessary change management cannot be transferred and applied to one-off production. The paper therefore includes the current deficits about the implementation of engineering changes. The aim is to show optimization approaches that result in a process model. Using the example of shipbuilding, an improved process design can be demonstrated. The general objectives of engineering change management are used for this purpose. These can be demonstrated based on process-specific key figures.
