Title
NEMI: A 6G-ready, AI-enabled autonomic network management system for open campus networks
Abstract
The management of ultra-dense, high-capacity beyond-5G networks becomes increasingly complex due to the network complexity, density and heterogeneity of the various, distributed and dis-aggregated network elements. Traditional, monolithic, policy-based network management systems are incapable of meeting many requirements of beyond 5G networks, slow, error-prone and complex to administrate. AI-enabled, distributed, autonomous network management systems overcome many limitations of current management systems and reduce the complexity from an administrative perspective. This work introduces a novel autonomous network management system for beyond 5G networks “NEMI”. It presents its application in dis-aggregated, beyond 5G network architectures for low latency QoS and mobility management and provides a preliminary validation of its functions for reliability and resilience in fixed, satellite and 5G networks, highlighting the benefits of distributed, AI-enabled autonomous network management.
