Untersuchung tribologischer Schichtsysteme mit dem Spiraltribometer
Other Title
Investigations of tribological coatings with a spiral tribometer
Abstract
Measurements using a pin on disk arrangement operated in a spiral mode reveal additional information on the tribological behavior of friction systems. The generation of transfer films or the distribution of adhesive wear products on the friction trace is expected to be considerably different than in the case of circular mode operation. The spiral mode allows to realize measurements in open tribological systems. Both in the spiral as well as in the circular mode friction coefficients of different friction systems were measured where at least one of the partners was coated. The tested coating materials were diamond-like carbon (DLC/a-C:H), tungsten containing DLC (W-DLC/a-C:H:W) and chromium nitride (CrN). In the following text for the both DLC based coating materials only the today established names a C:H and a-C:H:W will be used.
